FAQ's| PRMS Ltd

Are you a firm of Bailiffs?

This is a popular assumption and some way off from the nature of our business. Ethical Debt Recovery™ isn’t a euphemism for something else - it is Business-to-Business debt recovery, done in an ethical way.

Do you deal with personal debts?

No, we do not deal with personal debts or debts arising from private tenancy agreements. We provide a strictly business-to-business service.

I want to recover my debts but don’t want to lose my clients that I have worked hard to obtain. Can you help?

Yes we can. PRMS Ltd uses a combination of Ethical Debt Recovery ™ processes and Mediation-based techniques in order to maintain our clients’ business relationships whilst successfully recovering their debts.

Poor cash flow is the #1 reason most businesses fail and the inability to collect debt that is due and payable, is probably the single cause of lack of business growth in the UK.

How long should I wait before contacting PRMS Ltd?

You should wait no longer than 60 days to contact us. This should be your mantra every time you look at your debt ledger. The rule of thumb is this; if you haven’t been paid in 60 days then your client is definitely experiencing problems.

Is this a free service?

Debt Recovery is never “free”. Anyone who offers free services is a friend who is doing “a favour” or more likely a charlatan.

Who pays your fees?

You do!  Our contract for recovery services is with you and you are ultimately liable for our fees for work done and a successful recovery.

If your terms of business allow for recovery fees to be added to the debt, then there is a possibility that you may recover those fees from the debtor,   however that is a matter between you and your debtor.

Do you provide “no-win, no-fee" services?

The simple answer is no. Debt recovery is incredibly time-consuming and it is hard to make progress without incurring costs

Do you charge money up-front?

We don’t charge money up-front and be very wary of anyone offering to collect or recover debt that asks you for an upfront payment. PRMS Ltd invoices on a monthly basis which are payable within 7 days and has a money-back guarantee on selected services.

What are your Fees?

Please go to the Fee Structure page on this site, for a full and comprehensive breakdown of all our charges.

I am embarrassed to say that I think my debt is really small. Can you still help me?

The only reason to be embarrassed about debt is when you choose to do nothing about it. We have created a service called Collect-A-Debt  for smaller debts. This allows for your case to be dealt with by way of an automated service thereby reducing the cost and allowing greater access to the service

What do I need to get started?

We would normally require copies of contracts, invoices, addresses, telephone numbers, emails, social media details, relevant correspondence and any other pertinent documentation that would be helpful to your claim.

What formats do you accept documents in?

We can accept documents by post, fax, scan and email. When accepting documents by email we prefer documents to be in PDF format for ease of use. Please note that sending photos of documents using your Smartphone is not acceptable.

How long on average does the process take?

If your debtor responds quickly and agrees to repay the debt, then you may have your money within1-2 weeks, if the case goes to trial and includes enforcement that can be up to 3 months or longer. This is a worst-case scenario but a practical rule of thumb.

Do you just do letters & telephone calls to debtors?

We provide a service that is unique among debt recovery specialists. PRMS Ltd handle each case from its inception to the point at which payment is received on your behalf. We deal with all the stages in-between and monitor the progress of your case to provide a quality service and good value for money. Where cases become defended, PRMS can help draft proceedings, take witness statements, file documents, represent you in Court and support you all the way through to enforcing your Judgment and obtaining payment.

What is your success rate?

We are pleased to say that our success rate is currently running at 80%. See our Testimonials.

What happens if things get tricky and I need a Barrister/Solicitor/Lawyer?

PRMS is in the unique position of being able to assist you from the initial receipt of your instructions up to and including the enforcement of your debt. Most Debt Recovery & Credit Control companies fail when it comes to providing legal advice, however this is where we shine by dealing with all the legal matters in-house and if we need to escalate matters we have access to Solicitors & Barristers who can help deal with your matter.

I have friends/colleagues that could really use your service, if I refer them to you, is there anything in it for me?

Well it looks like you have already made the right choice! If you are in a position to help a friend/colleague you can do so by visiting our where you will find details of our Referal Programme  and the Terms & Conditions attached.

I have just found out my debtor is about to become insolvent, should I just give up now?

Whether you decide to give up or not has to be based on a number of factors. At PRMS we have ongoing relationships with a number of insolvency practitioners who may be able to help you salvage something from this unfortunate situation.

After reading all of this I think I need some form of Cash Flow Management. Do you know people that can provide Factoring/Invoice Discounting/Invoice Finance services?

We know that there are some cases where an injection of cash is the only way forward for your business. PRMS has partnerships with reputable firms in the Financial Service Industry and we can arrange meetings with our partners to enable these vital services to our clients

I’ve started a case but it appears to have gone awry.  Are you able to give advice?

It is easy to start a case independently but there are many reasons why you may suddenly hit a dead end and in need of professional advice. In order to help solve those problems we provide advice on an hourly rate basis. Click HERE for our fees

I don’t think I need the services you offer but I want to protect myself & my business from the threat of bad debt. Do you provide training?

Of course! Maybe you already have business experience, maybe you are part of a previously established Credit Control department or a business owner who has been stung by bad debt before, but doesn’t want to get stung again. Please take a look at our Training Page  if you wish to purchase a place.

One more question?

Of course, how can we help?

Do you ever send “the heavies” round?

PRMS Ltd is a professional, ethical debt recovery company adhering to the Office of Fair Trading Guidelines & CSA Guidelines which can be found on this website. Our main aim is to recover the debt for our clients, whilst maintaining, where possible the good relationship you have built up.

Where our client has obtained a judgement from the court, we can use a plethora of legal methods to enforce that, including in exceptional circumstances, instructing High Court Enforcement Officers (HCEO).

In any event we find that getting into fisticuffs to recover debt, invariably puts creases in our suits and that would never do!
